Hi Pauli,

Just curious what happens if you try to unload and then reload the via-rhine module. Maybe try a few scenarios:

1) suspend, resume, sudo rmmod via-rhine, sudo modprobe via-rhine
2) sudo rmmod via-rhine, suspend, resume, sudo modprobe via-rhine

Please let us know your results. Thanks.

1) cause complete system freeze (even sys rq doesn't function) and kernel log only includes this after modprobing.
Oct 31 09:51:11 pulu kernel: [ 652.720817] via-rhine 0000:00:12.0: PCI INT A disabled

I only waited about 15 seconds before doing hard reset so it is possible that system would start to work again in a moment.

2) Is working work around to make ethernet work after resume. Dhcp would assign IP fast enough so that network connection is back up before user has time to do anything.

I have got old motherboard with VT6102 Rhine-2 integrated ethernet card and can confirm this bug.

If I wake up from suspend, I'm not able to connect with NetworkManager, or ifup/ifdown the eth0 (there's no any eth0) :(((

Can anybody help? Should I provide more information?

This looks like a duplicate of Bug #267779 "via-rhine network adapter won't work on resume". Please take a look at that.

In both big reports lspci shows:

Ethernet controller [0200]: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT6102 [Rhine-II] [1106:3065] (rev 74)

A work-around is to add the " irqfixup" parameter to the kernel command-line. This is to try and play nicely with broken firmware in the adapter.
