Bug Description

Binary package hint: transcriber

----
Package: transcriber
Description: Ubuntu 8.10
Release: 8.10
----
When you install transcriber using 'apt-get install transcriber' all works great, and an icon appears on the sound & video menu, but if you click on the transcriber icon nothing happen.

Using a console I can see that the problem is that transcriber depends from the libsnack2 package, and that is not considered on the transcriber installation.

If you manually install the libsnack2 package, transcriber works, for the icon in the menu, and in terminal.

I think that this package must be added as a dependence to transcriber installation.

Yes, libsnack2 package must be a dependence of transcriber package.
Also this information is in description of the transcriber debian package already.

I had exactly the same problem on intrepid amd64 and installing libsnack2 worked for me also. The dapper, feisty, gutsy and hardy packages of transcriber all have a dependency on libsnack2. See http://packages.ubuntu.com/dapper/sound/transcriber, http://packages.ubuntu.com/feisty/sound/transcriber, http://packages.ubuntu.com/gutsy/transcriber and http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/transcriber. But the intrepid and jaunty packages do not. http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/transcriber and http://packages.ubuntu.com/jaunty/transcriber

I had exactly the same problem, and when I installed libsnack2, transcriber started to work. So thanks for the advice.

I guess you're not backporting this fix to Intrepid? (I'm still using Intrepid since Jaunty doesn't seem to work on my system.) The bug is still present in intrepid.
