Hey guys,
maybe I've got the same problem: sometimes my xserver shuts down, Ubuntu has to run in a low-graphics mode (VGA or something like this) and i have to restart my computer. I had this problem with several versions of Ubuntu.

jason, when attaching files, please attach them separately rather than in a tarball, as it causes us extra work to unpack them...

Are you able to reproduce this issue on Jaunty? If so, please collect a full backtrace - see http://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Backtracing for directions. The information collected so far is insufficient for troubleshooting this bug.

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help.

Good enough. I forgot to mention that this instability disappeared when the system was upgraded to the official release, from the developer release.
