firefox keeps crashing WARNING **: Exception in gr::RangeSegment

Many times repeated over and over again.

When it crashes at times it will lockup the whole desktop, however ctl-alt-f2 then pkill firefox releases desktop. The other thing I noticed google search box and address box when entering data moves down to where 20% of font is below box area.

I upgraded recommended updates but did not notice until I changed the system application font recently.

Hi,

firefox extensions are the cause for the majority of bugs reported against firefox.

To check that the bug you are seeing is actually a firefox one (and not an extension one), please disable your extensions one-by-one (restart firefox in between) until there is either no enabled extension left or your problem is resolved.

Please report your findings back.

err sorry. you remember which font you used when you had these issues?

I don't know what I originally had before I changed it but it did start with un.  I tried a lot of different fonts, but now I am sticking to unJamoNovel size 10, it looks similar to what I originally had.  The funny thing I tried purging firefox, then installing again,  I reinstalled a lot of the dependencies also. but I still have this problem.  I attached an error file to this which was captured using command line firefox 2&> firefox-error.txt.  I also download a copy of firefox:  firefox-3.1b2pre.en-US.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2.  I didn't install it to /usr instead untarred it in a folder in my home directory and made a link to execute firefox from that directory and it works really good, no seg faults just some odd errors that had to do with scim.  It works like it should. if you need
 more information I will be glad to provide you with it anytime.

ok. if you remember the font that cause crashes please open a new bug against the appropriate font pacakge.

I've had the same bug, with all the symptoms and others unrelated to firefox : The numbers (1234567890) where often not selected from the system font (Linux Libertine) but Charis SIL. The problem was also visible in notifiactions from liferea and on the character map.

The solution was to remove the recently added pango-graphite package.
