Bug Description

After upgrade from Hardy to Intrepid, konsole lacks of the feature "Send Input to All Sessions". I do not know whether this is a bug in konsole or intentional, but this feature is really important and useful when administrating multiple machines simultaneously with different SSH connections in different konsole tabs.

In the menu, the feature is in Edit -> Copy Input to...

But "Copy Input to..." requires to select the tabs to which to send the input to first. It furthermore requires to use the mouse to select this menu item.

Under KDE 3, konsole was able to define a keyboard shortcut to activate "Send Input to All Sessions". This feature was very convenient, since I often open SSH connections in different tabs to different machines. So, with only using the keyboard, I was quickly able to send some commands to all machines and run some other commands in the current tab only. Under KDE 4, doing similar work requires several mouse/keyboard interaction steps. In particular, I also cannot even find a possibility to define a keyboard shortcut for "Copy Input to..." (while a keyboard shortcut is possible for most other things in konsole, even for functions like "About KDE").

This is a work around rather than a fix but it is possible to send input to all tabs using only the keyboard (after the first setup).

Go to 'Edit' and right click on 'copy input to' you should have an option to configure shortcut.
So for example I've set mine to 'meta + a'.
This brings up the dialog to select tabs.
Use the tab key to move the focus to the select all button.
Hit enter to select all then use tab to move focus to OK and hit enter.

I realise this is less than optimal but it's the nearest I can think of to the functionality you describe

Still present in 9.10b for AMD64. This is one of the reasons I've been mostly using 8.04 and recommending avoiding KDE4

I have created a patch against the latest KDE SVN version which implements a functionality similar to KDE 3.5: http://reviewboard.kde.org/r/1056/ . It has been accepted by KDE, but the next KDE release it will appear in is KDE 4.4 (i.e. Ubuntu 10.04, probably).

In my Launchpad PPA, there is a patched kdebase package (for Jaunty with Kubuntu Backports repository, i.e. KDE 4.3) with konsole taken from the latest KDE SVN version: https://launchpad.net/~dreibh/+archive/ppa . I will create a similar package for Karmic after its release.

Thanks for your work . Setting as fix committed since the feature has been committed upstream for KDE 4.4. Unfortunately it's way too late to consider backporting it to our 9.10 KDE packages, but at least we'll get it in 10.04. :)

Could it please be added to backports, at least for LTS?
