generic annotations on database rows

What about a table that contains annotations for any object in the database. We could create a table with the following mapper, id, annotation, date, name columns and then we could create an annotation for essentially anything.

We would need some sort of common annotation viewr and editor and a way to tie it in seamlessly with existing editors. One way would be to create a generic annotation viewer/editor that the other editors could include inside an expander at the bottom of their dialogs.

The problem with creating these sorts of relations is it breaks the relational parts of the database and the annotations won't be updated to reflect any other changes in the database.
