thanks for your report. How did you install the package purple-plugin-extra-pack ? It doesn't seem to come from an official Ubuntu repository.

I did an apt-cache search on pidgin, since U was looking for the plugin that allows for changing the language for spell-checking. I did an custom-build on hardy and hoped it was included in 8.10

found several results worth checking out so I did:

sudo apt-get install pidgin-festival pidgin-guifications pidgin-lastfm pidgin-libnotify pidgin-musictracker pidgin-mpris pidgin-plugin-pack purple-plugin-extra-pack

I wanted to do an apt-cache show purple-plugin-extra-pack but apparantly the package has been disappeared from my repositories as well now... Strange since I cannot remember running apt-get update

So I guess this report can be closed.

I think purple-plugin-extra-pack might be the package I have created myself, to get the spelling language switcher.
