Bug Description

Last 20081025 I upgraded my eeePC 701 which was running Ubuntu 8.04 + netbookremix to Ubuntu 8.10. This worked fine.
Hardware is eeePC 701 with 2 Gb RAM and on a taiwanese version (thi sshould not be part of the issue).

I then installed Kubuntu desktop 8.10 (on KDE 4.0).
After reboot and from the login screen, it is unable to complete the graphics start and falls back to the login screen.

(This behaviour is similar to the behaviour I had on eeePC with Kubuntu 8.04 KDE 3.5.x in July that made me reinstall Ubuntu 8.04)

It seems a particular, undefined unpdate of Kubuntu doe snot allow the graphical start on eeePC while Ubuntu can do it in 8.04 and 8.10 rc versions.
=> This does not allow users installing and using Kubuntu on eeePC 701.

Could you attach a copy of your /var/log/Xorg.0.log after a failed attempt at a graphical start? Thanks.
