Bug assignee is listed as not affected by bug.

Bug #289589 reported by Alex Launi
4
Affects Status Importance Assigned to Milestone
Launchpad itself
Won't Fix
Undecided
Unassigned

Bug Description

The "affects me too" link on a bug page should not say "This bug doesn't affect me" for Bug assignees. They should be marked as subscribers, or have it say "I am fixing this bug". I experienced this on https://bugs.launchpad.net/do-plugins/+bug/236280, but it's true for any page that I am assignee for a bug.

Well, status In Progress is used to say: "I am fixing this bug." and assignees are subscribed to bug report they are assigned to.

I'm not sure if it's correct to automatically add the assignee as affected by the bug they're assigned to. Sometimes an assignee fixes a bug without being affected by it directly.

I don't think that the asignee should be automatically marked as affected. It really is two different things, and the person fixing it may really not be affected by it.

Just because you are not suffering from the bug, does not mean that the bug
does not affect you. The assignee is very much affected by the bug as he/she
needs to fix it! It is also silly for that person to say "yes this affects
me too" since that link is primarily for people to be notified of changes to
the bug report, the asignee already receives those.

I don't think there's any need for the assignee to be marked as being
affected by the bug, or for Launchpad to automatically mark them as
such. What would it achieve? That assignee is dealing with the bug is
clearly stated on the bug page. Unless the bug actually does affect them
(as in "they suffer from its consequences," which is how "affects me
too" is intended in this instance, and in which case we could reasonably
expect them to have marked themselves as such before the bug was
assigned to them) then marking the assignee as affected automatically is
meaningless.
