Bug Description

Binary package hint: pidgin

Hi guys. Nothing new to say here. This is a known issue, its a bug, but it have not been fixed. Pidgin transfers files at 2.0kB/s if lucky, but most of the time even lower speeds, when using the msn protocol. I had to install amsn just to transfer big files. Pretty annoying thing to do.

Here is 2.6.6 on Lucid. It seems msn protocol on Pidgin uses msn proxy, which makes things slow. msn-pecan used to be better regarding filetransfers (not sure how it is nowdays, because I'm using the native support).

If someone is curious, just install msn-pecan and change account's protocol from msn to wlm.

You'll have to request this information from someone else. I am a archlinux user now. Thanks.

I'm using 2.6.6, and the problem is caused by msn protocol, the connection should be p2p connection and not through any other proxy server, so to fix this issue you need to change the way of transferring files.

I'm marking this bug a duplicate of bug 308895 since they both link to the upstream bug about MSN p2p connections.
