Bug Description
I installed Kate via Add/Remove applications, but it doesn't start. If I start it from the terminal, it gives
trying to create local folder /home/james/
If I
sudo chown -R myusername /home/myusernam
the problem is solved. I didn't experience this problem in Hardy.

You probably used sudo at one point to open up a graphical (non-terminal) application. To avoid this, please use kdesudo to launch any graphical application with administrative powers.
