Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

I just installed an Ubuntu 8.10 daily build (DLed it on 25-10-2008). The vide playback performance seems to be *very poor* compared to 8.04. It seems to take more CPU when decoding video (used to be 4-10% now it's around 30-40%) and still can't seem to do it in a sooth way. Just to make sure I rebooted with 8.04 and the same video plays just fine (So the problem can't be the Hardware).

This test is done on a Dell XPS M1330 with integrated Intel graphics, T8300 @ 2.40GHz CPU and 2GB of RAM.

it seems this is a duplicate of Bug #278318

got good video playback by following the instructions of noOneSpecial (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/278318/comments/2), I selected 'overlay' (might have problems if compiz is enabled)
