Intrepid Beta: EeePC 901 ethernet does not work at all

Bug Description

I did a 8.10 install with the latest build on 10.23.08 and couldn't make the ethernet onboard chip work.

An lspci | grep Ethernet outputs this:

03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Attansic Technology Corp. L1 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter (rev b0)

I get the Auth 0 connected from network-manager, IP, DNS etc are all assigned, any attempt to browse the Internet or to update fails.

I'm on ADSL provided by an Italian company named Fastweb. I don't know if this may be related in some way to the fact that Fastweb isa a sort of gigantic intranet and does not give me a public IP. The same thing happens with my desktop computer (see bug 286489 here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-restricted-modules/+bug/286489) but only on one of the two Ethernet adapters (RTL1111B), which gets all assigned but still doesn't work, while the other Ethernet card on the desktop computer works perfectly.

Any suggestion is really much appreciated!
Emanuele

Ethernet works perfectly for me on eeepc 901 with the L1 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter with the final release of the intrepid disk. I propose this bug to have its status changed to invalid.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you.

Emanuele, can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Fabian has confirmed it is fixed in the final release. Thanks in advance.
