I haven't so far. Hopefully it isn't a bug. Weird.

I do it two ways.... By hitting the delete button on the keyboard or by right clicking and then "Move to trash" I rarely ever do the drag and drop to the trash. It did happen again about a week ago on the final version of Intrepid... But it happens so rarely, It's not really a problem to me.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Could you try to reproduce the same with Ubuntu 9.04? Thanks in advance.

I actually have the same problem. Like the previous poster, I'm not sure what caused it but I also only move items to the trash via right-click or the delete key on the keyboard.

I have the same problem now (8.10). Haven't noticed this before, but I rarely use the Trash in Nautilus.

I have tried to delete /home/myuser/.local/share/Trash and also roots trash (to make them regenerate to make sure there isn't a permission problem), but it doesn't help.

The empty trash button is greyed out. I can, however, use the GNOME-panel trash-applet to empty the trash.

Just tried to reboot, no change. Nautilus shows files in the Trash, but I am not able to click the empty trash button.

Also, the same problem is there when I run nautilus as root and try to empty roots trash.

the trash code has been rewritten in jaunty which should deprecate this issue, open a new bug if you still get a similar bug there though

I have the same problem of not being able to empty the trash under Ubuntu 9.04. When I pull up the trash folder and click on "empty trash" I get a file operations box which says "preparing" but there is no activity in the bar, and trash never empties.

I might add, that if I reboot the trash shows to be empty, but if I put another item in the trash it then shows all previous items.
