Bug Description

This one is a little confusing to explain, but horrible on the bandwidth usage.

When you submit or edit a material, the image on the submission page is _directly_ shown, but with a fixed HTML defined width. This means that, despite the small appearance on screen, users are often loading 10MB 1600x3200 images and displaying them as seemingly small 100x200 images.

Obviously, this is not a common occurrence as it is right now, since no users are editing pages.

Unfortunately, I cannot even imagine a work around... Any ideas?

Evan, can you be more specific, please?

Is this when you are uploading your own material or when you are in a material page? If this is happening in the front page, then we have a really BIG problem.

No. it is not on the front page, or any other main page.

It is when you are "edit"ing a page, which is actually when you are either actually editing an existing material with an image, or submitting a new one.

Like I think i already said, it's not that big of a deal because this is and will be rarely done.

I'll explain how to see what I'm talking about:

Click "Edit" on an existing material that already has an image.
Scroll down to the "Image" fieldset.
Right click on the actual image that LOOKS like a thumbnail
click "view image" or click "properties" and you will see that it is actually full size.

Even worse, scroll down to the "huge image" fieldset.
If that doesn't cripple your computer's performance or kill your browser, you will see that this one too is the FULL image, not a thumbnail

This is not a really big issue because all the images that look like thumbnails in the normal user interface are actual thumbnails 100px wide. This is only an issue for nodes that are being EDITED, which does not happen all that often.

The only thing i'm thinking now is that maybe it should be renamed to "second image".
