Bug Description

When right-clicking on my CD-ROM drive inthe "Places" sidebar of Nautilus and choosing "rescan", I get the following error:

Unable to poll CD-RW/DVD-ROM Drive for media changes

Cannot invoke CheckForMedia on HAL: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownMethod: Method "CheckForMedia" with signature "" on interface "org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Storage.Removable" doesn't exist

That's a totally unrelated bug. That one doesn't even mention the manual "rescan" option of the CD-ROM drive's context menu, nor does it mention the error message which I receive.

the issue is similar though and likely due the same cause as the other bug you opened, those are not nautilus issue

I really don't think it is. That one seems to be about (automatically) checking for updated drive labels.

This one is not related to changing media.

If it is a duplicate, it's more likely to be of bug #197954, except that one is in relation to floppy drives and merely accessing them rather than hitting rescan.

That would make it a gvfs problem.

the issue would rather bug a gnome-mount one, could be that you lack credential or similar

I can no longer reproduce this problem. I'll re-open the bug if I find later that I can.
