[ubuntu intrepid]documents cannot be printed

i've just noticed that with ubuntu intrepid documents can't be printed. when i launch a printing session with openoffice (for example) the system recognises my printer (an epson stylus c42) and queues the documents, but they don't get printed. can that be resolved?
if more info are needed just ask them

When i try to upload the error log i'm told that this file is empty and it can't be uploaded

Did you set the cups log level to debug as shown on the wiki? If so and error_log is empty, please post the output from the printing bug info script, found here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PrintingBugInfoScript
