tex4ht adds spurious '.' to output directory designated with -d option

Bug Description
Binary package hint: tex4ht
If I run the command
mk4ht oolatex myfile.tex "" "" "-doolatex-out"
I should get the output files in the directory "oolatex-out", but instead they are in the directory "oolatex-out.", with an extra "." on the end.
