Ubuntu crash just after boot

I just tried to upgrade from ubuntu 8.04 to ubuntu intrepid beta (in a non-production environment) and after reboot, about after 10-15 seconds, ubuntu crashed.
My computer is a 2.4GZ P-IV, 1.5GB RAM and always runned good with other ubuntu versions.
If i see under the shell, before the crash, it appears a lot of lines, none of them seems an error, maybe it's an assembler error code.
Anyway, after the boot, my wireless keyboard's receiver began to switch from green to black a lot of times. Since then no input could be given.
I already tried to upgrade to te latest packages (throught ubuntu 6.04, in chroot environment) but it seems that the bug hasn't been solved yet.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 287939

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.
