Bug Description
After the latest updates on 2008-10-22, ubuntu intrepid does not shut down correctly any longer (beside bug #287448). After selecting shut down from the menu, the shut down progress bar is displayed until it reaches about 50%. After that, only a blinking cursor is displayed and the system does not power off.
