Bug Description

When I choose practice from the game menu, the game just crashes and returns to the desktop without changing the resolution correctly. I'll attach the konsole output and the strace output.

This looks like a bug with the video driver. What graphic card are you using? And what driver?
These informations can be found using:
lspci|grep VGA
grep -i driver /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Could you please try playing other games and see if they work?(like Supertux or Tremulous).

I am using Intel's X3100 with the GM965 chipset. With intel driver version 2.5.1 from Jaunty.

Both Supertux and Tremulous work. Albeit Tremulous is very slow at times. Maybe it's because of the intel driver that only gets like 220 FPS in glxgears.

The same happens here :-( with the same output on the console. An interesting feature of the crash that the pointing device is gone after it happens. I also have an Intel GM965 based video card, and the Xorg.0.log tells me such things:

(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//intel_drv.so
ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 4.1
(II) intel: Driver for Intel Integrated Graphics Chipsets: i810,
(II) [drm] loaded kernel module for "i915" driver.
(II) intel(0): [drm] framebuffer mapped by ddx driver
(II) AIGLX: enabled GLX_texture_from_pixmap with driver support

It's Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid.
