Please can you provide more information on how the crash occured.
Can you reproduce the crash?
Can you include your ~/.xsession-errors file, /var/log/Xorg.0.log and the output of lspci -vvnn as separate attachments to your bug report.
Set to incomplete until we have more information.

I had just disabled visual effects via System->Prefs->Appearance->Visual Effects->None and the crash applet notified me of a crash about 30 seconds later. I haven't been able to recreate the crash yet.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Jaunty Jackalope. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/. Thanks again and we appreciate your help.

Thanks for your bug report. Unfortunately this report does not have a backtrace which makes it very difficult to investigate the problem. Due to the number of crashes that are currently being reported against Compiz we will close this bug assuming it is a duplicate of one of the existing crash bugs at http://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/.

For more information on problems with visual effects see http://wiki.ubuntu.com/VisualEffects.

If you are able you can try to obtain a backtrace using http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash. If you think the backtrace is unique please attach the file to the bug report and mark the bug as "New".
