Bug Description
Binary package hint: pidgin
When chatting to a friend who is currently in offline status in MSN, pidgin frequently locks up entirely. The whole program stops redrawing (chat window and main window).
The freeze always occurs after the first word or two has been typed (I've never had more than a few characters), and *seems* to happen more often after the conversation is left idle for a short time. This isn't 100% reproducible, but when chatting to an offline contact happened about 7-8 times in 45mins.
Some steps that seemed to make it happen more frequently:
1. start a convo with an offline msn contact (I frequently get a couple of "Message may have not been sent because a timeout occurred" messages at this point)
2. let the conversation window idle while minimized for about 2mins
3. start chatting again
4. let the conversation window idle while minimized again for about 2mins
5. freeze the next time I attempt to type into the message box
This is happening on pidgin 2.5.1-0ubuntu3.
