Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

I am using the OOo version from ppa (3.0.0-2ubuntu1) on Intrepid beta (amd64).
When I start OOo, select "Wizards -> Letter...", OOo crashes with the following output:

/usr/share/themes/Human/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:273: Bilddatei konnte nicht in pixmap_path gefunden werden: »panel_bg.png«
~$ LOG: [0x00007fa4ecb8d780] exception thrown while VM is initializing:
LOG: [0x00007fa4ecb8d780] NULL: java.lang.Object
LOG: [0x00007fa4ecb8d780] Aborting...

Any more information, I can provide?

This looks like it is an openjdk-6 issue but I may be mistaken. It seems to crash immediately upon initializing the JRE?

reassigning back; I don't even see this is openjdk-6

Which JRE are you using in OpenOffice.org? Tools->Options->Java and put what shows up for the "Location" of the version of Java you are using.

Okay, I have two JREs there: The one in /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-cacao/jre was selected for me by default and caused the crash.
But when I select the one in /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre, the wizard doesn't crash anymore.

My version of cacao-oj6-jre is 6b12-0ubuntu3.

Oh ok, yea cacao is known to be buggy, reassigning to it since it is a JRE issue not an issue with OOo. Also, I'm pretty sure that openjdk is supposed to be the default on amd64, so I don't know why it defaulted or even installed cacao for you.

Cacao 6b12~pre4-0ubuntu1 was installed when I updated OOo from 2.4 to 3.0.0~rc4-1ubuntu2 from ppa, so I think it was a dependency of OOo at least at this time...

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.
