Bug Description

Hi I'm having problems when I'm trying to watch videos. I have tried several applications, VLC, Mplayer and and several video, avi, flv divx, formats but the problem is the same. The image is like ...flashing and that makes impossible watching anything.

I found this problem since I have updated to the latest ATI drivers. If I need to provide any extra information, I don't know where to start, please let it me know.

Thanks

I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 beta

Hi there,

Someone in the ubuntuforums has suggested that changing from compiz to metacity will fix the problem. That has improved the quality of the image but it's still not good enough. When watching a video with VLX, for example, the image is still blinking (I'm not really sure what adjective use for describing it)

Thanks, could you also include the output of `lspci -vvnn`?

It should work if you disable Compiz (System - Appearance - Desktop Effects) If not try the fglrx driver of course without Compiz too.

Hi unggnu,

I was already aware of that but thanks anyway.

Oops, I notice this got misfiled; your xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log indicate you're seeing this issue with -fglrx, not -ati. Refiling.

I've posted a new version of the -fglrx driver to our xorg-edgers PPA,
would you mind testing it either on Jaunty or Karmic and see if it
resolves this bug?

Get fglrx 8.620 here:
