Bug Description

since the last 2-3 updates for the network manager, the applet do not show up, and it is required to configure the network in the shell.

right now i am still using the this packages that are the ones that are working:

network-manager_0.7~~svn20080928t225540+eni0-0ubuntu2_i386.deb
network-manager-gnome_0.7~~svn20080927t101113-0ubuntu1_i386.deb

Does any one have the same problem??

Thank you for taking time to report this. Is nm-applet actually running? Maybe its startup has been deactivated through the process of an upgrade. Try running "nm-applet" using the run dialog ([ALT] + [F2]). Thanks.
