Bug Description

When i try to open an ftp address, i get a failure message, like this one:
The requested operation could not be completed
Accesso negato
Details of the Request:
URL: ftp://example.site.com
Protocol: ftp
Date and Time: Monday 20 October 2008 16:32
Additional Information: smb://example.site.com

The same if i click on a ftp link. This time the message is:
Access denied to smb://castellodilari.it

It seems that there is a switch to smb protocol.

You're right, i missed some useful information...
I get this error when i directly write the ftp address on location bar (in konquror or dolphin). I've tried to get to the address by clicking on the address displayed in a konsole session (right click->open link)
All this with konqueror/dolphin that came with kde 4.1.2, in a ubuntu intrepid ibex (8.10) beta version, daily updated.

thanks,
  Giovanni

Works for me.

Please try with another ftp server (e.g. ftp://ftp.kde.org)

I've experimented a bit, and probably i've found where the problem is. If the proxy configuration is as in the image attached, i got the error i've reported. If i set "no proxy", all is ok.

Hope this help.

Hm, it appears to me this is part of the greater proxy brokeness then... which hopefully gets fixed in time for Kubuntu 9.04, nothing we can do right now unfortunately.
