I can confirm this.
But for me knotify4 do not crash every time KDE starts but most of the times. When it crashes it seems to kill the kdm process so I'll return to the login screen.

I can confirm this. Everytime KDE starts or shuts down, i havent really figured, Apport gives me the notification that knotify4 crashed.

knotify crashes on startup but nothing more happens. KDE keeps running without drawbacks.

I think it must have something to do with the sound-system (phonon?). When Kontact (working perfectly, if not started by session restore after login) restarts at session restore it also crashed with the same error in strlen().

The crash occurs when emptying the trashbin and each time I shut the system down. Using Intrepid 64bit, Intel Core 2 Duo.

I removed the package phonon-backend-xine and now the system shuts down without the crash. However on startup there is an error message, that Intel HDA is not responding and it falls back to default. SO I guess it has something to do with the phonon-xine-package.
