Which version of openoffice.org2 are you using?

Changing the options in both Writer and Calc works for me (Breezy 1.9.129-0.1ubuntu4). Could you describe which settings you were changing and what you expected the results to be?

seems to work for me with 2.0.2, if the problem persists, please give a short guide how to reproduce it.
