Fault is reproducable, btw. I'm only getting this for the guest account, using the fast user switcher to other accounts is working fine.

Ditto for me. Guest session worked fine. Also my previous session was still intact after returning from guest session--existing programs were still running fine. i will try to get you a backtrace. if successful i will reopen the ticket and provide more testing info.

well, i tried to get a backtrace using gdb but after i attach to compiz.real (it's pid anyway) and tried to continue, gdb says "Continuing." but never returns the prompt. here is exactly what i typed

$ gdb 2>&1 | tee gdb-compiz.real.txt
(gdb) handle SIG33 pass nostop noprint
(gdb) set pagination 0
(gdb) attach 6069
(gdb) continue
[hangs here and never returns]

so not sure what to do there. anyhow, since i install the debug symbol packages for compiz, i don't get this crash report any more. so, i'll still leave this closed and see how it goes.
