Release of Ubuntu: 8.10

What I expected to happen: A normal upgrade from Flash 9 to Flash 10, and for the new plugin to be recognized by Firefox 3.03.
What happened instead: When upgrading to Intrepid Ibex (8.10), flashplugin-nonfree was upgraded from 9 to 10. Upon the upgrade to Flash 10, Firefox 3.03 ceased to receognize the Flash plugin. I tried a complete removal (--purge) and reinstallation of Flash 10, but was met with an installation error. At this point, the package shows as installed despite the error, and Firefox still fails to recognize it. Subsequent attempts at reinstallation are met with the error the following error:

Thanks for your report. There's no evidence of what went wrong during the install in the provided log files.
Please can you try the following command:
sudo apt-get install --reinstall flashplugin-nonfree
and attach the output of the command or the file /var/log/ apt/term. log (you need to have superuser privileges in order to read that file)
Thanks.
