Noticed that this is still happening in Edgy. I receive an error message: "Could not start rdesktop: make sure redesktop is properly installed"

If I do an apt-get install tsclient I am then able to use rdesktop. Does this mean that something needs to be done to configure rdesktop by default to work better?

Just ran into this one as well. It works fine once I apt-get install tsclient - no additional configuration is required. I suggest that the Ubuntu package for Krdc should require tsclient. Either that, or the error message should say something about tsclient, not only about rdesktop.

I am once again requesting to make krdc install tsclient. Posting on this to the mailing list kubuntu-devel

Changed package to kdentwork.

This is a packaging "issue" krdc only suggests rdesktop, while tsclient is depending on it. Either we adapt the error message to something more meaningful (i.e. offer to install rdesktop automagically, or at leat tell the user to do so), or we make krdc depend on rdesktop, which is probably the best/easiest solution since rdesktop is in main anyway.
