Bug Description

I have a laptop and connected external CRT screen Hitachi CM751ET. When I use one of the higher resolution video modes (1400x1050 or 1600x1200) for the external monitor and no video mode for the integrated display, the video mode of the CRT starts to flicker in certain cases:

1) After I press Ctrl-Alt-F1 Ctrl-Alt-F7
2) After I start video playback by gxine or vlc; vlc don't work even in the dual-screen mode.

There are other cases, too.

OS: Xubuntu 8.04

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in xorg.
For future reference you might be interested to know that a lot of applications have bug reporting functionality built in to them. This can be accessed via the Report a Problem option in the Help menu for the application with which you are having an issue. Hmm, next I'd like to forward this issue upstream, but first it must be retested on latest Jaunty to make sure the issue still happens there with the latest code. ISO images are available at http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/releases/jaunty/. If you can reproduce it in the LiveCD environment, you shouldn't need to modify your installed system. Also please attach a fresh Xorg.0.log from this testing.

I can't do it myself since I don't have the hardware currently.

Since the hardware is no longer available for doing troubleshooting with, we'll have to close the bug for now. However please feel free to reopen if you or anyone else has the same HW and can reproduce this issue using the latest development version of Ubuntu and is willing to do some troubleshooting with it.
