Bug Description

After today's update (Oct 15) of several compiz packages, the performance of compiz (speed of changing between different saturation/brightness) will decrease after activating/deactivating plugins in CCSM. Using the options (Normal/Extra) in the Appearance Preferences dialog doesn't not affect the performance, moreover if the performance has become bad, using Normal/Extra will reset compiz into good performance.

Changing detailed settings of a plugin (no matter activated or not) won't affect the performance.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open Appearance Preferences dialog, go to the Visual Effects page, select Normal (or Extra). Switch between different windows, notice the window's saturation/brightness changes immediately after switching focus.

2. Launch CompizConfig Settings Manager, activate or deactivate any plugins, e.g. ADD Helper. After this, switch between windows again, now the window's saturation/brightness change will finish in 1~2 seconds. Revert the change made in CCSM will not solve the issue.

3. Open Appearance Preferences dialog again and select Normal (or Extra) in Viusal Effects page, the switching effect will be normal again.

The steps above is shown in the screencast attached.

Just for the record, activating/deactivating plugins directly using gconf-editor won't cause this issue.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Could you try to reproduce the same with Ubuntu 9.04? Thanks in advance.

The bug is clearly marked as "[Intrepid]".
There is no response from developers (not from bug reporter).
I see no reason it is marked as "incomplete".

The bug exists still in Intrepid, however in 9.04 alpha I don't have this issue.
