Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

Mode 1920x1080 works using fglrx (both on Hardy and Intrepid); ati driver only supports 1920x540 (half of the required 1080)

The display is a LCD TV Sony KDL-46VL130, the remaining stuff is in the attachments.

The behaviour seems to be the same with the radeonhd driver.

Hmm, I'd like to forward this issue upstream, but first it must be retested on latest Jaunty to make sure the issue still happens there with the latest code. ISO images are available at http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/releases/jaunty/. If you can reproduce it in the LiveCD environment, you shouldn't need to modify your installed system. Also please attach a fresh Xorg.0.log from this testing.

There have been a number of improvements to R600 card support in the 6.11.0 -ati driver, so possibly this bug is gone. Please let us know once you've had a chance to test it.

Unfortunately I can not reproduce this anymore, since I changed my livingroom TV. With this one I have another problem - only allows 1280x720 (or something like that), although this is a Full-HD TV (Samsung LE46A656). Anyway, that's probably another bug. That is with 9.04. Before upgrading I also tried with 8.10, with similar result - I only saw modes up to 1366x(something), but 1920x1080 was not there.

Since the hardware is no longer available for doing troubleshooting with, we'll have to close the bug for now. However please feel free to reopen if you or anyone else has the same HW and can reproduce this issue using the latest development version of Ubuntu and is willing to do some troubleshooting with it.
