Bug Description

1) Intrepid 8.10
2) 1:5.1p1-3ubuntu1

Upgraded from Hardy 8.04 ("Alt+F2 update-manager -d" method) yesterday, have had problems with update-manager and dpkg (booting recovery mode and using dpkg option returns errors and suggests "dpkg --configure -a", but this does not seem to work).

So, expectably(?) because of the mentioned problems, this is one of the crashes automatically reported when Gnome X session starts.
