Bug Description

Binary package hint: scim

often after I login, the keyboard does not work, and new programs will stall halfway through launching (ie, splash screen comes up, but then nothing more).

There are many duplicate scim-panel-gtk processes running. if I kill them, the keyboard starts working, and all the programs I tried to launch finish launching.

i'm running

Please open System -> Administration -> Software Sources -> Third-Party Software and add the following link:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/arnegoetje/ubuntu intrepid main

Then refresh your package lists and update scim-bridge-agent and scim-bridge-client-gtk from my ppa.

Log out and in again and see if the problem is fixed.

Thanks.

I have something similar going on (does not affect my keyboard) on Kubuntu; I have no idea if it is related.

After a while the kick off menu stops loading programs I try to start etc. I realised I had several (many, many) scim-panel-gtk processes running consuming roughly 1 Gb RAM altogether. I killed them together with scim-launcher and I could launch programs again. (The last program that failed to launch actually popped up from 'nowhere' as soon as the processes were killed)

After a while I'm back in the same situation (each program spawns a few that never close).
If your package address this I'm happy to try it.
