Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Could you try to reproduce the same with Ubuntu 9.04? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for checking up on this!

The issue appears to have been resolved for me at least in 8.10 x64. I haven't had this problem for the last few months. I'm assuming that one of the early updates fixed whatever was causing the crash.

8.10 has been working so well for me that I haven't been tempted to try Jaunty yet, but I will download the latest 9.04 alpha release and see what happens. I will post the results here.
