actually, unchecking "Use XVideo" under Tools->Preferences->Hardware tab makes it work.

No, unchecking this option does not make it work for me... still crashnig without "Use XVideo"

I was experiencing a crash when loading a *.rm stream in a fresh install of realplayer. Unchecking "Use XVideo" as Ivars suggests did work for me. This may be a different crash than others are experiencing, though.

For completeness, I'm using a Toshiba laptop, with the latest realplayer package from the Medibuntu repository. Running Ubuntu Intrepid x86, with default ATI video driver and standard Compiz running.

Same problem on an Acer Aspire 5920. Disabling XVideo didn't work. I got a slightly different error message when running from terminal:

"/usr/bin/realplay: line 54: 19194 Floating point exception$HELIX_LIBS/realplay.bin "$@""

Running RealPlayer 11.0.0.4028 (Gold) on intrepid.

Update: worked when I changed audio driver from ALSA to OSS. Go figure.

But then again, I got no sound when selecting OSS, so I'm stuck again.

Sorry for triple posting, I'll try to test my stuff further before posting next time. :-P

I get this problem when I use ALSA.

@Waldir Leoncio: If you're using pulseaudio like me you have to run realplayer like this: "padsp realplayer".

Only problem is that wouldn't help for the firefox plugin. :(

I don't know what audio system I'm using, but for the record padsp didn't help me.
