Bug Description

When I later settings in advanced diplay effect settings , they work just fine in the current session, but are not saved across sessions. FOr example I always have to re-enable rotate cube and desktop cube.

Some settings seem to get restored just fine.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Could you try to reproduce the same with Ubuntu 9.04? Thanks in advance.

I'll set a cron job to remind me when 9.04 is out of beta.

If I get around to install the beta, I'll try to remember to test this.

Yes, it still happens with current (26.3.2009) Ubuntu 9.04.

Specifically, compiz doesn't ever change those changes that needed overriding bindings of another plugin - even if I disable the offending plugin.

Say, rotate cube wants to use binding Win-1 (rotate to cube side 1), but desktop wall owns that already. I click set binding anyway, and then even disable desktop wall. When I close settings, and reopen it, desktop cube is disabled, wall is enabled, and I have to redo the settings.

Each time I login, I need to enable 3 plugins and disable 2. Bearable (because I don't reboot every day), but annoying.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running apport-collect <bug #> and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
