Please, try to obtain a backtrace by following the instructions on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash.
(install packages 'network-manager-dbgsym', 'network-manager-pptp-dbgsym', 'network-manager-vpnc-dbgsym' and 'gdb' and see here for backtrace https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace)

Set to incomplete until we have a backtrace.

I've created the backtrace and attached the output. Hopefully I did it right. There doesn't seem to be dbgsym packages for 8.10 yet so I downloaded the source and compiled for debugging like the wiki said to do for older Ubuntu versions.
