Bug Description

Binary package hint: vlc

vlc crashed with SIGSEGV in QAccessible::updateAccessibility() when attempting to play a dirac file located at http://dirac.kw.bbc.co.uk/download/video/maybefinal/diracpromo-tr1000.ts . It seems these types of problems are already known about in the VideoLAN forums (http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=50544) but just in case, I still submitted the bug here.

I have problem to play the given movie with vlc (0.9.4-1ubuntu3).
Can you try to get a backtrace by following the instructions on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and on http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces/Details.
(install packages 'vlc-dbg' and 'gdb' and see here for backtrace https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace)

Marked as incomplete until we have a backtrace.

This is all I could get out of the backtrace. I could provide the whole output, including all vlc debug info printed if that would help.

Locking assertion failure. Backtrace:

Which video output do you have in vlc? (look in 'General video settings' into the frame of parameters)

It was set to OpenGL. Once I changed it to default, the video did play. Thanks for that suggestion. I still wonder though if the program should segfault when that is set to OpenGL. The description above says I use the nvidia driver, but more specifically, I'd like to mention it is an NVIDIA GeForce 6800XT, if that helps.

I let this report open since it is not normal that vlc crashes.
However, it have no crash using the openGL ouput with an ATI card.

There have been a large number of bugfixes with the latest VLC release, 1.0.0~rc2-1ubuntu1. Can you reproduce your issue with this latest version? You can test this in Ubuntu Karmic, or Ubuntu Jaunty with the MOTU Media PPA at https://launchpad.net/~motumedia/+archive/ppa . Thanks in advance.
