Bug Description

Binary package hint: f-spot

When I plugin the Canon 450D it gets recognized correctly. Nautilus works correctly with it (006:006) But the import on F-spot does not work.
It gives the following error (part in Dutch..):
Testing gphoto path = usb:006,005
PortInfo Universal Serial Bus, usb:006,005
Error Lock: LibGPhoto2.GPhotoException: Kan het apparaat niet vergrendelen
  at LibGPhoto2.Error.CheckError (ErrorCode error) [0x00000]
  at LibGPhoto2.Camera.Init (LibGPhoto2.Context context) [0x00000]
  at GPhotoCamera.InitializeCamera () [0x00000]
  at MainWindow.ImportCamera (System.String camera_device) [0x00000]

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Thanks in advance.

I still have the same problem, this what I got today after running f-spot from command line and only try to import from the 450:

(f-spot:8888): GdkPixbuf-WARNING **: GdkPixbufLoader finalized without calling gdk_pixbuf_loader_close() - this is not allowed. You must explicitly end the data stream to the loader before dropping the last reference.

Fortunately Nautilus does work correct with the 450.

with which version are you getting that? could be this more like a libgphoto2 issue? may you please test with jaunty? thanks in advance

This happens for me too on jaunty with all my cameras (EOS 50D, 350D, Ixus 70, haven't tried my Nokia phone)

It seems to happen because f-spot and (gvfs? nautilus?) both want to use the device when it's plugged in. gvfs to "mount" it, f-spot to import from it. When you "unmount" the icon on your desktop, f-spot will stop complaining about the device being locked.

Martijn a similar issue was fixed on f-spot a few weeks ago at bug 338466, but doesn't seems to be related to this report, please open a new one rather, thanks in advance.
