Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdebase-plasma

From last couple of days i have been observing an unpresidented increase in Xorg memory usage(> 400MB after leaving for 20 hrs) and i thought i would give a look at what are the applications that are using Xorg memory. I find xrestop useful and i have observed that plasma is the culprit and causing xorg to use memory incrementally. I unlocked the widgets and hover the widget handles and observed the memory usage of plasma in xrestop .. its increasing gradually for evey hover you make.

System : Intrepid
xserver-xorg:
  Installed: 1:7.4~2ubuntu7
kdebase-plasma:

Is this still a problem in KDE 4.2?

For bugs like memory leaks it would be best that you report them directly to bugs.kde.org so that you can work with the Plasma developers directly to help identify the issue. (Memory leaks are harder bugs to debug, because they all look the same at a glance) Thanks for understanding.
