Bug Description

This error pop up comes during upgrade (update-manager -d) from Xubuntu 8.04 (to 8.10).

"The NetworkManager applet could not find some required resources. It cannot continue".

This message is generated every few minute (and it stacks on top of itself, which makes it double anoying). But it does seemingly not affect or disturb my upgrade -process.

I figure this is because the upgrade process messes things up for my already running NetworkManager applet.

I found a message in /var/log/daemon.log:
"Oct 11 01:55:21 DarthVader NetworkManager: <debug> [1223682921.430042] nm_hal_device_added(): New device added (hal udi is '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/platform_parport_pc_632')

Important note: I've manually compiled and installed wireless driver (madwifi-hal) according to this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=943189.

The hardware is: Acer Aspire One (mini notebook)

Intrepid. Error probably occured during update.

I can confirm this, its only "upgrade time" issue.

I can also confirm this. Clean install 8.04 upgraded to 8.10 afterwards. Looks like an issue only affecting updates. Note that I only got that error once during the upgrade.

I can confirm the error during upgrade to 10.4 Lucid Lynx using Upgrade Manager from a fresh install of 9.10.

This also happened to me during an upgrade from karmic to lucid.

I only got one popup, not multiple as the original bug reporter had.
