Touch button misfunction in HP Pavilion DV5 1030ev

I have an HP Pavilion DV5 1030ev, which has some touch buttons. In those new models (in dv5 and dv7 series), HP decide to transform the analog wireless switch into touch button. In normal operation, this button is red when wireless is turned off and stays blue when is on.

In Intrepid, beta version, this button blinks when the wireless card is on. I mean that it stays some seconds blue and then it colored red and vice versa. I don't think that this could be represent the network's trafic, because it is a switch wich indicates when the card is on or off. Also the button does not works properly, because I cannot manage the wireless card, I can't turn it off or on.

Unfortunately, I am not able to locate the source package with the problem. I attach an image with the wireless button.

I am running the 64bit beta version of intrepid.

Same problem here. I'm using Ubuntu 8.04, Kernel 2.6.24. All buttons work, except for the wirless button, I can neither turn it on nor turn it off. It appears to be dead.

I have a HP dv5-1002nr with the same problem using Ubuntu Intrepid. All buttons work, except the Quick Play button (that launchs a media player) and Wireless On/Off button.

I used a livecd of intrepid on a dv5 1000 laptop, and I can confirm that wireless doesnt work, and the touch button doesn't work. I think there is a driver for the 5100 intel wireless card, that is opensource. So, I suspect that the reason that this doesn't work OOTB has to do with the button.

My wireless button does work, but mute and quickplay buttons are inactive... Any solution?

The same for me. Only the volume touch slide works. The others touch buttons doesn't work in Ubuntu 8.10 live cd in HP Pavilion dv5
