Modal window during install, but apps can still be launched via the menu

Bug Description

When Synaptic is downloading / installing packages, it presents a modal window with no "minimize" option, and the "downloading packages" window itself is also modal and without "minimize".

This prevents from accessing the desktop (you can only switch to already launched applications with the taskbar).

But new applications can still be launched from the Applications menu.

So is there a reason for having modal and non-minimizable windows in Synaptic?

Hello,

I have Ubuntu 8.04 and Synaptic 0.61ubuntu9.
Actually, the download / install window does not have a minimise button. Still, I can minimise Synaptic from the main window minimise button ! Would you try with it ?

Cheers
