Kate "cuts" instead of "copies"

Bug Description

Binary package hint: kate

When I copy selected characters in kate and paste them into another running instance of kate, the kate which I copied the characters from cuts them out instead of leaving the selected characters there. I'm fairly positive that this is not the desired activity. I'm using the "4:4.1.2-0ubuntu1" package version.

Sounds like desired activity to me :P
Anyway, I can't reproduce this. Maybe you could provide some more information.
How are you copying? (context menu, shortcut, edit -> copy?)
What type of document are you copying from? (c++ code, ruby code, simple text document...)
Same for the target document?
Is Syntax highlight on in either one of them?

Okay, I'll paint a more specific picture. I'm using Konqueror to open a CSS file on my local machine and another CSS file through ftp (with konqueror) on a remote server. I open both files with kate and place both kate windows side by side. Highlighting is set to CSS for each kate window. I highlight a single line of code in one kate window (it doesn't matter if I use the remote or local file), "line-height: 1.4em;" is the line I'm currently trying, but it has the same behavior with any line. Then I use the right-click menu and select the "Copy" item. Then I focus the other kate window. I click on the area where I want to paste the copied text, then right click and use the "Paste" item. The selected text is pasted correctly. But as soon as I focus (click on) the other kate window (the one the text was copied from) the selected text disappears as if I had used the "Cut" command instead.
Both files are coded correctly other than sometimes I use "//" as CSS comments when I'm trying little styling changes. Syntax highlighting is on for both kate windows. Hope that helps.

I can't reproduce this either, even with the specific instructions. (Thanks for those, btw)

Could you attach the css files so that we could see if the issue is specific to those files/CSS files in general?
