Bug Description
When I want to halt interpid (installed on an external usb drive) it never stop but is stalled on alsa daemon. If I'm doing a ctrl-alt-del it continue the process to stop but come back to alsa and stop again. I have to do a hard stop.

Same for me, updated 8.04 to 8.10 and OS won't shut down or restart, always hangs on ALSA. Otherwise all sound works normal.
I have an Acer Aspire 5670 Laptop, the sound card is something from Intel, Device Manager sees it as ALC883.
