Bug Description

My laptop (a HP530 : https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam/HP530 ) detected the lid close currently in Hardy, but when I recently upgraded to the Intrepid beta, it no longer detects closure of the lid. There is no change in the output of dmesg when the button is pressed.

I'm not sure about what information would be required to track down this bug, so please let me know and I'll be happy to provide it. I have attached the output of a lshal to start with. Let me know what else might be useful.

I also have this bug on my Compaq nc7000.

It used to work in Ubuntu, (can't promise that it was Hardy, though), but now nothing happens when I close the lid. The screen is still on.

In XP the lid closing is detected, so the button is not broken.
